Tomago Aluminium

Part of the Hunter Region for almost 30 years, Tomago Aluminium is located around 13km north-west of Newcastle. The smelter produces around 530,000 tonnes of remelt ingot, T-ingot, extrusion billet and rolling slab per year.
Most of Tomago's product is exported to South East Asia, Japan and China, with the economic benefits felt far and wide through the local economy. Tomago spends around A$900 million annually on materials, supplies and labour in Australia, of which around A$500 million is spent locally in the Hunter Region alone. The smelter contributes A$1.5 billion to the Australian economy each year.
Tomago Aluminium maintains strong relationships in the community through a range of partnerships, focusing on initiatives such as prostate cancer awareness, the Red Cross blood service, Hunter Medical Research Institute and Kidsafe.
